Williams Hits Top-10 Long Jump Friday

AUSTIN, Texas - Mean Green track & field advanced several events to Saturday's finals on Friday morning at the Texas Relays from Mike A. Myers Stadium.

Alysha Adams finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 13.15 seconds. The senior's fastest time this season came last week at the UTA Bobby Lane Invitational, where she crossed the line in 13.08 seconds.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team also advanced to the finals tomorrow morning with a time of 3:11.76. Clinton Collins, Montrell Pyron, Darnell Greig and Justin Flowers finished less than three tenths behind Texas and took second in their heat.

Sophomore Steven White, who finished 10th in the 400-meter hurdles yesterday, will compete in the invitational section of the hurdles on Saturday.

Finishing up competition Friday morning was freshman long jumper Terrance Williams.  Williams, who already led the Sun Belt Conference in the long jump, expanded on his longest jump of the season, clearing 7.61 meters to finish third in the event.

The women's high jump featured two members of North Texas, Haley Thompson and Sahaf Bareni. The duo tied for sixth, having both gone over the bar at 1.65 meters.

The Mean Green will return to action Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium for the final day of the Texas Relays.
