DENTON, Texas (4/4/13) – Senior distance runner Jo Adams was named Sun Belt Conference Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday for her record-breaking performance at the Texas Relays last weekend.
Adams broke the 23-year-old 1,500-meter run school record on her way to capturing third. Adams ran a personal best 4:19.09 to be the first collegiate runner to cross the line beating out runners from Texas, Baylor and UCLA.
Adams, who owns two indoor school records, moved into first in the 800 meters and the 1,500 meters on the SBC performance list. This is Adams first outdoor school record.
North Texas track & field will host its annual home meet, the North Texas Classic, this Friday and Saturday at Fouts Field.
