DENTON, Texas - Seniors Justin Flowers and Alysha Adams were selected as the Sun Belt Conference Track Athletes of the Week Tuesday afternoon for their efforts in the North Texas Open and North Texas Spring Classic this weekend.
Tuesday's selections mark the third time Adams has received the award this season and the fifth time a Mean Green athlete has won overall.
Flowers tied with the current SBC defending champion in the 100-meter dash on Saturday with a time of 10.54. That mark is good enough for third in the conference currently.
He also senior set the time to beat in the 200-meter dash in the SBC on Friday at the North Texas Open when he crossed the line in 21.12 seconds, good enough for first place, first in the conference, and 19th nationally.
Flowers then finished the weekend as a member of the 4x100 meter relay team that currently sits second in the SBC and 17th in the nation.
Adams grabbed three top-three finishes over the weekend, including two wins in the 100-meter hurdles.
Her time of 13.30 seconds in the 100 hurdles Friday during the North Texas Open is the fastest time in the SBC and the 11th fastest time in the nation.
The senior finished third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.89 seconds, which leads the SBC and registers at No. 36 on the national list.
Mean Green track & field will be back in action Saturday, April 2, when it travels to Arlington, Texas to take part in the UTA Invitational.
