Jamison Selected Sun Belt Performer Of The Week

DENTON, Texas (3/24/09) - North Texas high jumper Jermaine Jamison was awarded the Sun Belt Conference Men's Field Performer of the Week on Tuesday after his first-place performance at the TCU Horned Frog Invitational.

Jamison, a sophomore from Harker Heights High School out of Killeen, Texas, posted an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark with his 6'10.75" jump. Jamison had missed the entire 2009 Indoor Season but the 2008 all-conference performer looks to be in full form for the outdoor season.

"It's really good to have him back," North Texas head coach Rick Watkins said. "He's way ahead of where he was last season and I think we're only going to continue to see good things from him the rest of this season."

It was almost one year ago today that Jamison was last named the Sun Belt Conference Performer of the Week. On March 25, 2008, Jamison received the award after winning his first collegiate event, which also happened to be at the Horned Frog Invitational where he jumped the same 6'10.75".

The North Texas track and field team will next head to the UT-Arlington/Bobby Lane Invitational Mar. 27-28 in Arlington, Texas.
