Track and Field Heads to UTA Saturday

DENTON, Texas - Mean Green track & field is set for its second cross-town meet in as many weeks as it travels to Arlington, Texas for the UTA Bobby Lane Invitational.

Junior Steven White leads the North Texas men into action, with the fourth fastest 200-meter dash time in the nation.  His time also leads the Sun Belt Conference and is second in the NCAA West Region.

Joining White is teammate CJ Fowler, who recorded a 10.6 second 100-meter dash last weekend at the TCU Invitational.

The women's side was led by freshman pole vaulter Jessica McNew. McNew jumped into the top-five performers in school history last week.

The UTA Bobby Lane Invitational will take place on the campus of the University of Texas-Arlington at Maverick Stadium.

The Division I entrants include UTA, Oklahoma, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, North Texas, Northwestern State, Missouri State, Nebraska-Omaha and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The rest of the collegiate field consists of: Abilene Christian, Angelo State, Bacone, Cameron, Concordia, Dallas Baptist, East Central, Incarnate Word, Lon Morris, Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State, Southern Nazarene, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas College, Texas Wesleyan, UT Tyler, Wayland Baptist and Wiley.

Field events will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Live scoring of the event will be available via www.UTAMavs.com.
