Carrothers Dominates At Dr. Pepper Invitational

WACO (3/22/03) - Senior shot putter Jerome Carrothers had a spectacular day as he won the shot put with a personal best throw of 53-8.25 at the Dr. Pepper Invitational. Carrothers day wasn't finished after the shot put as he also won the discus with a toss of 144-0. Carrothers toss in the shot put was also an NCAA regional qualifying distance and is the fifth time in his career that he has had a throw of 50 feet or more.

In other field events for North Texas Latrecia Taylor won the shot put with a season best throw of 42-2.75. Jessica Henderson finished in second place in the shot put with a season best throw of 39-8.50. Britt Yoder also had a second place finish in the javelin with a toss of 115-0.

In the pole vault Ryan Lancon captured second place by clearing a height of 15-7.

Senior sprinter Ananka Clark finished in second place in the 100 meter dash with a season best time of 11.94. The North Texas relay teams both finished in second place in the 4X440 relay. The men clocked a time of 3:18.09 and the women finished with a time of 3:51.15

North Texas is back in action on March 29 at the UTA Invitational in Arlington.
