NT Opens Outdoor Season At Horned Frog Invite

DENTON, Texas (3/20/09) - The University of North Texas track and field team will head south this weekend to open up its outdoor season at the Horned Frog Invitational on the campus of Texas Christian University.

The North Texas men's and women's teams are coming off third place finishes at the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Track Championships held in late February.

Sun Belt Conference Indoor Freshman of the Year Keyth Talley will anchor the men's side. He placed second in the men's 200-meter dash at the championships and finished fourth in the 55-meter dash.

On the women's side NT returns sophomore 100-meter hurdles SBC champion Alysha Adams as well as three of four members from the reigning 4X400 gold medal team (Shayla Hart, Chrystall Mitchell and Ciara Smith). Senior Lauren Wiggins is also coming off an impressive end to the indoor season after coming back from injury to win the 55-meter hurdles for a second consecutive season.

The Horned Frog Invite will begin Friday at 5 p.m. with the discus. All other field and running events will be held Saturday, beginning with the 1500-meter run at 11:00 a.m. To view heat sheets for the meet click here.
