Feb. 27, 2014

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The North Texas track and field team travel to Birmingham, Ala., to compete in their first Conference USA Indoor Championship Friday, Feb. 28, at the Birmingham CrossPlex, hosted by UAB.

“The past weeks have prepared us for the upcoming championships,” said head coach Carl Sheffield. “Being able to practice outside has been challenging, but we've been able to utilize the track and that has raised the confidence level of our athletes.”

The Mean Green has high hopes for senior Jo Adams who is the top-seed in the women’s mile after a stellar performance at the Iowa State Classic. Adams set a new school record and lowered her personal-best by 11 seconds to 4:38.83. She has a chance to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend.

The two-day meet’s preliminary session will begin Friday at 9 a.m. with the combined events. Finals for field events will start at 1 p.m. on Friday, followed by running prelims and the 5000m final Friday evening.

The championship will be televised by Fox Sports 1. For live results visit http://flashresultstexas.com/2014/cusaindoor14/
