NORMAN, Okla. (2/21/04)- The North Texas track and field teams broke more school records in the final tune-up for the Sun Belt Conference Championship next week at the Sooner Indoor. Freshman Desiree Hill broke the school record in the pole vault for the third time this season at 11-3, which is also the third best in the Sun Belt Conference this season.
Junior Jarrod Stone had his personal-best in the long jump at 24-4.50 to finish in second place. Stone's jump was just shy of the school record of 24.5.25 and is also the second best in the conference this season.
Other top performers for the Mean Green were Lee Porter in the 800-meters with a time of 1:57.56. Josh Rogers had a season-best time in the mile run at 4:28.75.
On the women's side Roniqua Wilson tied her season-best time in the 60-meter dash at 7.82. Erika Washington took home a fourth place finish in the 600 yard dash at 1:27.61. Ciji Brooks also clocked her best time of the season in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.10.
North Texas will now focus on the Sun Belt Conference Championship which will be held February 28-29 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
