Track & Field Concludes Indoor Regular Season

NORMAN, Oklahoma (2/20/10) - The North Texas track and field team wrapped up their indoor regular season finale with three top-three finishes at the Sooner Open Saturday afternoon.

Junior transfer Missy Barnes set a season-best time (7.45) in the 60-meter dash to place third and fell just a hundreth of a second off an NCAA Provisional mark. The third place finish was also Barnes' highest of the season, including both the 55 and 60-meter dash.

In the long distance events sophomore Sara Dietz finished second in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:58.30. In her only other race this season Dietz won the one mile run at the Texas Tech Open.

North Texas' other top-three finish came from freshman high jumper Suzy Prikryl, who placed second with a leap of 5-05.00. That height is her second best this season and it also marked the third time this season she has finished in the top three.

On the men's side Patrick Strong competed in his second race of the season and placed fifth in the one mile run with a time of 4:26.44.

The North Texas track and field team will next compete in the Indoor Sun Belt Conference Championships next weekend from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. As always check meangreensports.com for results.
