Mean Green Set For Sooner Indoor Meet

DENTON, Texas (2/19/10) - After a one week hiatus the Mean Green returns to the track this weekend for the Sooner Open II in Norman, Oklahoma at the Mosier Indoor Facility.

Action will get underway at 10 a.m. beginning with the women's long jump and men's weight throw. Live, as well as final, results will be available on the University of Oklahoma Athletics web site - www.soonersports.com. Live results will also be available at deltatiming.com.

The Mean Green enter the meet with a little bit of momentum, especially a couple of reigning Sun Belt Performers of the Week. Last weekend at the Iowa St. Classic, junior Jordan Wehr set a new Sun Belt and school record by registering 5,318 points in the heptathlon.

Wehr placed in the top three in four of the seven hep. events, including first in the 60-meter hurdles (8.41). Wehr's total score is the 25th mark in the nation and was just seven points shy of setting an NCAA DI Provisional mark.

Joining Wehr was Senior long jumper Ashley Austin is coming off her best performance of the season after winning the long jump at the Iowa St. Classic with a distance of 19-07.50. Austin's jump is the fourth longest in the Sun Belt this season.

This will be the last indoor meet before the Sun Belt Conference Championships, which will take place Feb. 27-28 at Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
