Wiggins Sets School Record, Places 10th At Tyson Invite

Day One Recap

DENTON, Texas (2/16/08) In what is becoming a common trend so far this indoor season, Lauren Wiggins set another school record in the 60-meter hurdles during the finals of the Tyson Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Wiggins, a junior from Carrollton, Texas, clocked in with a time of 8.25 to place third in her section and 10th overall in the 60-meter hurdles.

Wiggins bested her old school of 8.29 she set two weeks ago at the JD Martin Invite in Norman, Okla. It is the fourth time in as many weeks that Wiggins has broken a school record in the hurdles during the indoor season. Pending results from the Iowa State meet later tonight, Wiggins’ provisional mark of 8.25 is tied for ninth fastest in the nation.

Wiggins and the rest of the North Texas track team will head to Murfreesboro, Tenn., next weekend to compete in the SBC Indoor Championships.
