Wehr Breaks School Record On Day 1 At Iowa State
AMES, Iowa (2/13/10) - For the sixth time this season, sophomore sprinter Keyth Talley finished an event in the top three, this time finishing third in the 60-meter dash on day two of the Iowa State Classic.
Talley finished third with a time of 6.78 but actually performed better in the prelims where he finished with a blazing time of 6.71, his second NCAA Provisional time of the season.
North Texas only had a few competitors on this day as it was not an official meet. Other highlights from Saturday included the women's sprints. Junior transfer Missy Barnes placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a season and team-best time of 7.51. Brittani Simmons also placed in the top 10 in the 60-meter dash with a ninth place finish of 7.63.
Former walk-on Alysha Adams also had her best performance of the season in the 60-meter hurdles with a sixth place finish of 8.65.
North Texas will return to the track as a team on Saturday, Feb. 20 when they travel to Norman, Oklahoma for the Soon Open II. That meet will mark the final practice round for the Mean Green before the Indoor Sun Belt Conference Championships Feb. 27-28 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
