Aghedo Sets School Record At Tyson Invitational

Fayetteville, AR (2/12/05) Osaze Aghedo set a new school record while competing against some of the top college teams in the nation this weekend at the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark.

Aghedo set the pace for the Mean Green with her all-time best mark in the 60-meter dash. The senior set the record while finishing in 22nd place in a time of 7.57.

“I think we got some thing accomplished tonight,” said head coach Rick Watkins. “I think a lot of people grew up tonight. You can run really well and still finish in 20th place in this meet.”

Josh Rogers also helped lead the Mean Green with his effort in the 3,000-meter run. The sophomore finished sixth in a time of 8:38.49.

Deidra Wesley equaled a season best 1.70-meter leap in the high jump. The senior tied for eighth place and set a season high with the jump.

Ciji Brooks eclipsed the season long throw in the shot put. The junior had a throw of 13.23 meters, the season’s only 13 meter throw, and finished in 17th place.

The Mean Green will now set their sights on the Sooner Indoor meet next weekend in Norman, Okla.
