Edwards Claims Second SBC Award of 2009 Season

DENTON, Texas (2/10/09) For the second time this season North Texas senior high jumper Toby Edwards was named the Sun Belt Conference Men’s Field Performer of the Week.

The Athens, Texas native had his best jump of the season this past Saturday at the UH All-Comers Meet, finishing third with a height of 6-08.25 (2.04m). That mark was the best by all collegiate jumpers in the competition and gave Edwards the second best height in the Sun Belt Conference this season.

This marks the third time in Edwards’ tenure at North Texas that he has been awarded the conference’s Performer of the Week. He also took the award after winning the high jump competition at the opening meet in Lubbock at the Texas Tech Invitational in week one with a mark of 6-07.00

Edwards and the rest of his teammates will be back in action this weekend to take part in the Tyson Invitational Feb.14-15 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
