Iowa State Classic on Tap for Mean Green T&F

DENTON, Texas - Mean Green track & field heads north for the Iowa State Classic Thursday through Saturday at the Lied Recreation Center in Ames, Iowa.

Junior Aaron Sirles, reigning Sun Belt Field Athlete of the Week, leads the men's team in the event fresh off a personal record shot put of 16.89m and a second place finish.

Friday will mark the first time senior Sara Dietz will be back in action since the Houston Indoor Invitational. Dietz currently leads the Sun Belt Conference Performance list in the 800 meter run, is second in the mile and third in the 3,000 meter.

Freshman Joe Adams will be making her debut for North Texas in two events, as she will run in the 3,000 and be a member of the Mean Green distance medley relay team.

Shahaf Barnei is set to compete for the Mean Green in the high jump after a personal best tying 1.70 meters at the Red Raider Open and a second place finish.

Events Thursday are limited to the multi-events in which Chelsea Hermes will be participating.  Friday's events will begin at 11 a.m. with the weight throw.
