Track & Field To Compete In Houston, Oklahoma

DENTON, Texas (2/5/09) After getting a week of rest the North Texas track and field team is back in action Saturday, February 7 at the UH All-Comers Meet in Houston.

The Mean Green will also be sending 12 athletes for the throwing and distance competitions to the Sooner Open at the University of Oklahoma.

Two weeks ago the Mean Green were led by sophomore Jordan Wehr at the Razorback Invitational. The Austin, Texas native finished second in the Heptathlon by compiling a school-record 5094 points.

Wehr was named the Sun Belt Conference Performer of the Week for his efforts. It was the third time this season that an athlete from North Texas has received the award.

North Texas also got a record-breaking performance from freshman Keyth Talley, who set the new school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.81. Talley finished fourth out of 62 runners and was only three-tenths of a second off the first-place mark.

Action gets underway in Houston at 9 a.m. with the long jump. The first event in Oklahoma will be the 3,000-meter run, which will start at 10 a.m. You can keep up with the action at
