DENTON, Texas (2/4/10) - After having a week off, the Mean Green track and field team returns to Lubbock, TX once again for the Texas Tech Open this Saturday inside The Athletic Training Center.

Sophomore sprinter Keyth Talley enters this weekend on fire having won the Sun Belt Conference Performer of the Week twice already and claiming the top times in the conference in both the 55-meter dash (6.23) and 200-meter dash (21.27).

North Texas head coach Rick Watkins is expecting a boost from the long distance runners in Lubbock with junior Patrick Strong and sophomore Sara Dietz returning to the track. Strong has never been healthy enough to race during the indoor season in the previous two years but the New Zealand native appears ready to give it a go and will be looking to carry over some of his cross country ability over to the track.

The women's sprints will be looking to improve upon the top three times in the conference. Missy Barnes (7.09), Brittany Blaylock (7.09) and Brittani Simmons (7.12) stake claim to the top three times in the 55-meter dash and Blaylock also has the top time in the 200-meter dash (24.72) as well.

Action on Saturday is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. beginning with the men's long jump. Live results from the Texas Tech Open will be available by clicking HERE.
