(2/04/05) - The North Texas women's track and field team will try to make it two-for-two this Saturday at the Wes Kittley Invitational in Lubbock, Texas.
The Mean Green, led by a record-setting performance from senior Jessica Henderson, brought home its first official overall meet title since the 2003 Sun Belt Outdoor Championship at the OU Indoor Classic, and will look to repeat this weekend.
Henderson smashed the school record in the 20-pound weight throw by over seven feet with her toss of 49-6.50. She was named the Sun Belt Conference's Women's Field Performer of the Week for her efforts.
Ciji Brooks, Stacy Orakpo and Racquel Hudson also turned in gold medal performances for the Mean Green women in Norman, Okla. Brooks was also honored by the conference with Women's Track Performer of the Week.
The Mean Green men will also be in action, and will look to improve on their third-place finish at the OU Indoor Classic.
Senior Justin Kauffman was named Men's Field Performer of the Week for his first place in the 800-meter run. His time of 1:56.26 was just seconds off his personal best time of 1:53.37.
