VIDEO: A Tribute To The North Texas Faculty And Staff

Feb. 3, 2015

In honor of University Faculty and Staff Appreciation Month, will be recognizing the special relationships between student-athletes and their professors. Over the next four weeks we will spotlight the personal stories of students-athletes and the teachers who inspire them.

In our first video, sat down with hurdler Chastity Stewart. Stewart, a senior journalism major, is a student-athlete who has had great success on and off the track. In the classroom, Stewart has been named to the Dean’s List or the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll every year at North Texas. Last year, she was named to the Conference USA’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Stewart selected Kathie Hinnen, a professor at the Mayborn School of Journalism, as someone who made her fall in love with public relations and journalism.

In 2014, Stewart exemplified the success of the Mean Green track and field program by advancing to the NCAA Championships after winning the 400-meter hurdles in the Conference USA Outdoor Championships and qualifying for the NCAA West Preliminary. She holds the top five times in the 400-meter hurdles at North Texas.
