DENTON, Texas - North Texas track and field heads west for the Red Raider Open on Saturday at the Athletic Training Center on the campus of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
The Mean Green is coming off a solid appearance at the Houston Indoor Invitational where sophomore Charleston Lewis broke the school in the weight throw and senior distance runner Sara Dietz narrowly missed setting her second school record of the young season.
Week Four Notes
Director of Track & Field Carl Sheffield has announced that only the distance runners and field events will be participating in this weekend's meet.
The North Texas sprinters will remain in Denton for training and rest for the Iowa State Classic next week.
Sarah Vann will be looking for her second straight week of setting a season best mark in the pole vault as the sophomore cleared 3.60m at the Houston Invitational last Saturday. She currently sits third in the Sun Belt Conference, with teammates Sarah Korn and Jessica McNew right behind her at fourth and seventh respectively.
Events for the Texas Tech Invitational will begin at 10 a.m. with the men's and women's long jumps as well as the men's weight throw. Running events are schedule for an 11 a.m. start with the women's 5000 meter run.
