FAYETEVILLE, Arkansas (1/23/09) Day one of the Razorback Invitational came to a close Friday evening and North Texas learned quickly that they were up against some top competition in the country. Although the Mean Green did not have anyone place in the top three, they still came away with some positive performances.
Senior Shauna Shepherd recorded the second best mark in school history with a toss of 52-07.25 in the women’s weight throw. Alana Tyler holds the school record of 56-01.25 at last year’s Sun Belt Conference Championships.
Jordan Wehr also had an all-around solid day for the Mean Green in the heptathlon. The junior from Austin, Texas placed fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.34) and long jump (21-04.25), sixth in the high jump (6-02.25) and seventh in the shot put (35-11.50).
Keyth Talley was once again the top runner for the Mean Green in the 200-meters, finishing 24th with a time of 22.16. Alysha Adams and Chrystal Mitchell led the way in the women’s 200-meters by finishing 26th (25.23) and 27th (25.27) respectively.
The second and final day of the Razorback Invitational will get under way tomorrow at 11 a.m. with the men’s heptathlon and will conclude with the women’s 4x400-meter relay at 4:30 p.m.
