DENTON, Texas (1/22/09) After a successful trip in Lubbock last weekend at the Texas Tech Invitational, the North Texas track and field team heads to Fayetteville this weekend to take part in the Razorback Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

The Mean Green will face some of the best competition in the nation, including top-25 teams Alabama (women), Arkansas (men), Baylor (men), and TCU (women). A total of 27 universities and community colleges will compete at the two-day event beginning Friday with the heptathlon at 11 a.m.

At last year’s Razorback Invitational, Lauren Wiggins broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.46.

North Texas had three first place finishes in their season-opener, including another first-place finish from Toby Edwards in the high jump (6-07.00). Wiggins won the 55-meter hurdles, clocking in at 7.93 and also had the top time in the prelims (8.00).

For their efforts both Edwards and Wiggins were selected as Sun Belt Conference Performers of the Week for the second time in their respective careers.

All-conference performer Brandi Stanfield repeated her feat in Lubbock from last season by winning the women’s triple jump with a distance of 39-10.00.
