Track & Field Heads To Kansas State Invitational Saturday
North Texas Set For Third Indoor Meet

DENTON - The North Texas track & field team will participate in its second team scored event of the season Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Kansas State invitational.
The meet will begin with the women's weight throw at 9:30 a.m. inside the Ahearn Field house. The Mean Green will be competing against Kansas State, Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Colorado State and South Plains junior college. The invitational will conclude with the men's and women's 4x400-meter relay.
Senior sprinter Collin Heard will compete in the men's 60-meter dash and took second in the 200-meter dash last week at the Texas A&M Team Invitational.
In the women's 800-meter run, freshman Tori Valka and Jennifer White will compete for the Mean Green with sophomore Catalina Uriarte. On the men's side, junior Zach Kirkland, sophomore Ethan Davis and freshman Hayden Murphy will look to earn points.
Junior Rick Nally will run the 1000 meter run for the first time this season and sophomore Baylee Nelson will compete for the women's team. Sophomore Kyle Maloney and freshman Tim Jones will also compete with Nally in the 1000m run.
Junior Kevone Kennedy hopes to continue his strong start to the indoor season in the men's weight throw. Kennedy took second at LSU's meet and ninth last week at the Texas A&M Invitational.
In the 4x400-meter relay, freshman Darrian Johnson, Nelson, Valka, and freshman Artesha Richardson will run for the women's team. The men's team will have Kirkland, Nally, Jones and Maloney run the anchor leg.
