Talley Named Sun Belt Performer of the Week

DENTON, Texas (1/19/10) - For the first time in his career, North Texas sophomore sprinter Keyth Talley was awarded the men's track Sun Belt Conference Indoor Performer of the Week after his record-setting performance this past weekend at the Texas A&M Invitational.

Talley set a new school record in the 60-meter dash with a second place finish of 6.69 and also earned North Texas' first NCAA provisional time of the young season. He had advanced to the finals after winning his heat with a then school record time of 6.73, only to surpass that mark hours later.

The Tuscaloosa, AL native currently holds the third fastest time in the nation and is tops amongst all Sun Belt competitors when broken down to the 55-meter dash (6.23).

This is the third time in Talley's career that he has been awarded a SBC Performer of the Week after winning twice during the outdoor season in 2009.

North Texas track and field will be back in action Friday-Saturday when they travel to Lubbock for the Texas Tech Invitational.
