DES MOINES, Iowa -- North Texas junior Steven White saw his season come to an end on Wednesday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium.
White, who came in ranked seventh in the nation in the 400-meter hurdles, finished in 14th-place and failed to qualify for Friday's national championship race.
The junior finished fourth in heat one with a time of 50.86 seconds. His 14th-place finish was the best finish by an individual since Keyth Talley took 13th in the 100-meter dash at the NCAA Indoor Championships in 2010.
White will await word on an invitation to the US Olympic Trials, which will take place June 21-July 1 in Eugene, Ore.
He currently holds the 12th fastest time among all American athletes in the 400-meter dash at 50.07 seconds.
