Stewart, Collins Advance To Quarterfinals At NCAA West Prelims

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Chastity Stewart and Clinton Collins advanced to the quarterfinal round of the women’s 400-meter hurdles and the men’s 400-meter dash, respectively, in Thursday's competition at the NCAA West Preliminary Track and Field Meet at the John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Stewart placed third in her heat, securing a spot in the quarterfinals. Her time of 59.41 placed 23rd overall.
In the men's 400m, Collins took heat one in 46.24 and will enter Friday's race seventh, while teammater Anthony Hamilton finished the season in a time of 47.80.
Distance specialist Troy Taylor closed out his sophomore year with a 30th-place finish in the 1500m. Taylor's time of 3:46.26 was a top three season-best performance and moved him up from his entry position.
In Friday’s field events, Mona Landry ended her season in the women’s long jump with a 35th-place finish jump at 5.67 meters. This was the sophomore's first trip to the NCAA West Prelims.
Senior javelin thrower Tom Kalisky finished his career at North Texas with a 36th-place finish with a throw of 59.52m. Kalisky has the second all-time javelin throw in program history with 64.02m, thrown at the UTEP Invitational.
Day two will begin with Collin Heard in the 200m. Heard is seeded fourth in his heat with his time of 20.93 from the TCU Invitational in March.
Charlotte Wilson’s record-breaking performance of 10:13.10 in the women’s 3000m steeplechase makes her a contender in heat one.
On Saturday, freshman Elisha Peters will compete in the women’s high jump.
