Track & Field Ends 2018 Outdoor season at NCAA West Prelims
Lopez-Ibarra Finishes 30th, Relay Team Places 21st
SACRAMENTO, CA – The North Texas track and field team finished the final day of the 2018 NCAA West preliminary round failing to qualify for the NCAA championships Saturday at Hornet Stadium.
Junior Javier Lopez-Ibarra placed 30th in javelin with a throw of 61.60 meters (202-1 feet) in the second flight. Lopez-Ibarra had three attempts throwing 60.09, 58.02 and 61.60 on his final throw. In 2017, Lopez-Ibarra came in 36th place in javelin with a throw of 58.74 meters.
In the 4x100-meter relay, senior Dominique Drayden, freshman Abdon Campbell, senior Alford Tribble and junior James Cole placed 21st with a time of 41.35. In the second heat, North Texas placed seventh (21st overall) to finish the 2018 NCAA West prelims.
