Cole Comes Up Just Short At NCAA West Prelims
Cole Comes In 24th, Ashmore Places 32nd
SACRAMENTO, CA – Sophomore Bailey Ashmore and junior James Cole both competed at the 2018 NCAA West preliminary round ending their outdoor season Friday at Hornet Stadium.
Junior James Cole missed out on qualifying for the 200-meter dash quarterfinal round by one spot at 21.28. Cole ran the third heat and finished 24th falling just short in the NCAA West prelims. Cole ran his third fastest time of the season.
Sophomore Bailey Ashmore finished 32nd in pole vault at the NCAA West preliminary round. Ashmore vaulted 3.78 meters (12-4.75 feet) and ended her outdoor season. Ashmore broke the school record in pole vault twice this season and fifth at the C-USA outdoor championships.
On Saturday, junior Javier Lopez-Ibarra will compete in javelin at 2 p.m. (CT) and the men’s 4x-100-meter relay team of senior Dominique Draydren, freshman Abdon Campbell, senior Alford Tribble and Cole race at 8 p.m. (CT).
