AUSTIN, Texas - North Texas track & field advanced Steven White to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon when he qualified 11th in the 400-meter hurdles at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.
White, who came into the meet with the sixth fastest time in the NCAA, crossed the line in 50.64 seconds. He becomes the first Mean Green athlete to advance to the NCAA Championships since 2010.
In other action on Friday, Chastity Stewart saw her year come to a close when she finished 44th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.94 seconds.
CJ Fowler took home a 43rd-place finish in the 200-meter dash, clocked in at 21.84 seconds, only .72 seconds out of advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals tomorrow.
Junior Aaron Sirles will kick things off for the Mean Green on Saturday in the discus throw, with the men's 4x100-meter relay looking to advance later in the afternoon.
