T&F Qualify Seven For Sunday's Finals At C-USA Outdoor Championship

HOUSTON -The North Texas track and field team qualified for seven events going into Sunday's finals, at the Conference USA Outdoor Championship, in Houston, Texas.

Senior Clinton Collins is seeded first in the men's 400m after today's performance of 46.24. This was a life-time best and places him third all-time in North Texas history, by one one-hundredth of a second. Anthony Hamilton qualified fourth with his time of 47.66.

On the women's side, Ashley Henry is seeded eighth with her time of 54.97. Henry is also eighth going into finals of the women's 200m with a time of 24.30.

Charlotte Wilson lowered her school record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:13.10, placing second. On the men's side Alejandro Valencia finished with a personal-best of 9:02.56 and third overall.

Junior Chastity Stewart is fifth heading into Sunday's final of the women's 100m hurdles; her time of 13.59 was a season-best. Stewart also advanced in the 400m hurdles, and is seeded third with her time of 1:00.54. On the men's side, senior Marcus Wooten placed 10th with a personal-record of 52.65.

In the 1500m, only one one-hundredth of a second separated teammates Bryce McAndrew and Troy Taylor placed from sixth and seventh-place with their times of 3:52.18 and 3:52.19.

Freshman Connor Bey senior Collins are fifth and seventh going in the 200m, with their season-best times of 21.11 and 21.17.

In the field events, Mona Landry was third in the women's long jump with a distance of 6.15m. On the men's side Clinton Clarke finished 20th with 6.86m.

Ngozi Nweke posted a person-record of 44.56m in the women's discus throw, finishing ninth for the Mean Green.
