Track Completes Day 3 in El Paso

EL PASO--In the third day of competitions, North Texas continues to move towards what could round out be a big weekend at the C-USA Championships.

Eddie Wilcox placed third in the men's high jump. Pole vaulter Jessica McNew placed fifth in the women's pole vault with a 3.62-meter vault. Alejandro Valencia finished seventh (9:34.92) in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Ngozi Nweke eighth in women's hammer throw with a 46.63-meter throw.

The Mean Green had a good showing in today's preliminary rounds. North Texas will be well represented in the final rounds that will take place Sunday.

Alex Hita placed first in the men's 800-meter prelims, guaranteeing a spot in tomorrow's finals. Victoria Junious placed fifth in the women's 800-meter prelims qualifying for finals as well. Lafiel Smith placed fourth in the men's 400-meter hurdles, and will also compete in finals tomorrow.

Magdalena Escobar placed ninth overall in the 1500-meter prelims, earning her a spot in finals. Kedron Sowells placed seventh in the 100-meter dash prelims, and Collin Heard, who got fourth place in the 200-meter dash, will run in the finals tomorrow.
