The Mean Green Set Nine PR's In Distance Events

AUSTIN, Texas -North Texas track and field’s Kedron Sowells, Clinton Collins, Caleb Pryor and Collin Heard took first in the 4X100-meter relay at the Longhorn Invitational this Saturday, in Austin, Texas.
The time of 40.44 was a personal-record by nearly half a second, in addition to the nine personal-best times set by the Mean Green, in distance events, this weekend.
Charlotte Wilson led the way in the 1500m; her time of 4:33.82 was a lifetime-best and a sixth-place finish. Teammates Shauna Pali (4:44.87), Kylee Kittrell (4:48.57), Leesa Morales (4:48.62) and Yvette Hernandez (5:01.65) followed also setting new personal records. On the men’s side,Troy Taylor was the event winner in 3:44.82.
In the 800m, Bryce McAndrew (1:52.42) and Alex Hita (1:52.76) finished fifth and sixth, setting personal-best times with three second drops.
Mean Green sophomore Ashley Henry had a two-second drop in the 400m. Her time of 54.96 placed her seventh out of collegiate runners and 10 overall. On the men’s side, Collins was the first collegiate in 46.74, placing fourth overall in the event.
Senior Marcus Wooten lowered his 400m hurdle time to 53.15, in the last meet of the season before the Conference USA championships.
In the field events, Tom Kalisky finished in the top-three of the men’s javelin throw (61.02m), his highest finish of the season.
Freshman Elisha Peters picked up her fifth top-three finish in the high jump. Peters closed out the season with a 1.73m jump.
In the triple jump, Jazmine Martin increased her season-best, for the second week, with a distance of 11.31m.
Tori Clark led the Mean Green in the women’s discus throw with her personal-best of 40.65m, placing her 11 in the event.
The Mean Green will return to Houston on May 15, for the Conference USA Outdoor Championship hosted by the Rice Owls at Holloway Track/Ley Field.
