Track & Field Completes John Jacobs Invitational
Mean Green Has One Meet Left Until C-USA Championships
NORMAN, OK – The North Texas track & field teams competed at the 48th annual John Jacobs Invitational on Saturday, April 22, at the John Jacobs Track & Field complex.
The men’s team finished sixth overall and the women’s squad came in seventh place.
“I feel really good about how the team has been responding to rest and training,” head coach Carl Sheffield said. “We are finding bright spots in our squads to help score points at the conference championships. Next weekend will be another opportunity to fill seats on the plane to El Paso.”
Freshman Linnea Larsson-Huusko finished fifth in the hammer throw at 51.37 meters. Junior Kevone Kennedy came in fifth in the hammer throw at 52.04 meters.
Junior Victoria Junious placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:16.09 and freshman Kacie Mayberry was ninth at 2:16.25.
Junior Tevaun Scallion finished 12th in the 400-meter hurdles and ran a personal-best time of 55.05. In the 200-meter dash, freshmen Derrick Samuels (21.85) and Na’Jee Wickliff (21.87) both ran personal-best times.
In the 4x400-meter relay, the men’s team (Jamison Justice, Samuels, Wickliff, Scallion) came in seventh place with a time of 3:17.36.
-Freshman Kristyn Archuleta finished 22nd in the hammer throw at 36.24 meters
-Archuleta placed 21st in discus with a season-best mark of 36.63 meters
-Freshman Karl Sralla came in seventh in the hammer throw at 43.66 meters
-Sralla finished sixth in javelin at 51.29 meters
-Freshman Howard Grant came in ninth in long jump with a season-best jump of 6.88 meters
-Freshman Bailey Ashmore finished sixth in pole vault at 3.50 meters
-Freshman Jacob Kevetter placed 14th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.35
-Johnson finished 13th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.66
North Texas will take part in the Bobcat Classic hosted by Texas State on Saturday, April 29.
