Numerous Top-Three Finishes Top Off John Jacobs Invitational
NORMAN, Okla. -- Track and Field finished up the Oklahoma John Jacobs Invitational from the campus of the University of Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon.
The Mean Green women had several top three finishes on the afternoon the keep themselves on a roll heading into the Drake Relays next weekend.
Two freshmen came through with the victories for North Texas.
Roshunda Pierson just missed out on her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles when she took home the first place finish with a time of 1:00.73.
Suzy Prikryl grabbed her second victory in as many weeks in the women's open high jump, clearing 1.65 meter this week.
Ciara Smith tallied a second place finish in the 400-meter dash, finishing just one second off the winner in the race with a 55.45 second time.
Smith then went on to edge out teammate Missy Barnes In the 200-meter dash in 24.58 seconds for a fourth place finish. Barnes notched a time of 24.61 seconds.
Alysha Adams continued to show why she is one of the very best 100-meter hurdles runners in the nation, notching a time of 13.43 seconds on Saturday, just .02 off of her 9th place time in the NCAA West division.
Senior Ashley Austin also threw in a top-three finish of her own when she jumped 5.75 meters in the long jump.
North Texas will split next weekend to attend two meets. Some of the team will attend the Drake Relays while the rest of the team will head back to Norman for the Oklahoma Invitational II.
