Women Finish Fourth, Men Place Eighth at Texas Invitational
Field Athletes Shine in Austin
AUSTIN--The Mean Green had another successful weekend in Austin, Texas as the women's team places fourth overall and the men's team finishes eighth at the Texas Invite.
This is North Texas's second competition at the University of Texas this outdoor season. In March, the Mean Green had some success at the Texas Relays, one of the largest track competitions they will compete at all season.
North Texas field athletes had a good day in Austin. One the women's side, Mona Landry took first in long jump with a 5.76m jump. Sophomore Jazmine Martin placed third in women's triple jump with an 11.82m jump. Senior Tori Clark placed fifth in the women's shot put 1(3.56m), and fourth in hammer throw (51.57m). Kandace Rose placed seventh in shot put with a 12.96m throw, and senior Deja McKnight placed seventh in the hammer throw with a 48.57m throw.
On the men's side, sophomore Austin Williams placed third in the men's long jump with a 7m jump, and fourth in the men's triple jump with a 13.92m jump. Eddie Wilcox placed third in men's high jump, clearing the bar at 2.05m.
North Texas relay teams had some success as well, with the women's 4X100 relay team of Chianne Lowe, Mona Landry, Siara Obasuyi, Rhenique Williams placing fourth (46.01). The women's 4X400 team Chelsea Crayton, Rhenique Williams, Victoria Junious, Elisabeth Osondu placed fifth (3:56.54). The men's 4X400 team Caleb Pryor, Kedron Sowells, Stephen Munroe, Connor Bey came in sixth.
