T&F Completes Day One At Texas Relays
The Mean Green Track and Field Team Start Off Strong In Austin

AUSTIN, Texas -The North Texas track and field team completed day one of the Texas Relays with Charlotte Wilson’s third-place finish in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase, this Thursday, Mar. 27.
“Texas Relays has been a great meet for colleges and high school teams,” said head coach Carl Sheffield. “It’s early date is always a challenge this time of year. It’s a good meet for us when we open the year at or near last year’s personal-best marks.”
Wilson had the highest finish of the meet for the Mean Green. Her time of 10:24.53, in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, was a 10 second improvement from her best performance last season.
In the men’s 3000m steeplechase, James Coleman was the top qualifier for the Mean Green in seventh place with a time of 9:14.48, right behind him was teammate Alejandro Valencia with a time of 9:14.89.
Junior Chastity Stewart was just shy of qualifying for finals in the women’s 400-meter hurdles, her time of 1:00.04 placed her 10 in the preliminary run. On the men’s side, Marcus Wooten started off outdoor season with a time of 55.89.
In the 5000m run, freshman Shauna Pali finished 17th with personal-best time of 18:30.67. Silvester Harrison notched a time of 15:15.83, on the men’s side.
