FORT WORTH, Texas - North Texas track and field opened the outdoor season at the TCU Invitational, where they placed in the top-three in four events this Friday, Mar. 13.
Competition included TCU, Kansas State, Baylor, UTA, Texas State and SMU in addition to the women’s side, at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth, Texas.
Mean Green sophomore Troy Taylor won the 800-meter run by a nearly a second in 1:53.52 and classmate Alex Hita tied for sixth place with his time of 1:55.93.
In the field events, senior Tom Kalisky finished second in the javelin throw with a distance of 57.08m. The Mean Green’s Mona Landry was the first collegiate athlete but third overall in the long jump with her distance of 5.41m.
Senior Sarah Korn placed fourth in the pole vault (3.51m) and teammate Madison Northcutt squeezed in the top-eight with a height of 3.36m.
Hurdler Chastity Stewart was second in the 100m in 13.61, just two tenths behind the sophomore from Baylor. Classmate Kayla Savoie was eighth with a time of 14.35.
The Mean Green will continue the outdoor season at Texas Relays in Austin, Texas Mar. 27 through Mar. 29.
