Track & Field Finishes C-USA Championships In Fourth Place

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The men's track and field team finished fourth and the women's team came in 10th to complete the 2016 Conference USA indoor championship Thursday.

The men's team finished the two-day championship with 59 points earning a tie for fourth place. The women's team came in 10th place with 18 total points.

Senior Dominique Drayden kicked off day two with a sixth-place finish in the men's triple jump with a season-best mark of 14.83 meters. Senior Victoria Clark took home eighth place in the women's shot put throwing 13.34 meters earning a point for the women's team.

In the women's triple jump, junior Jazmine Martin finished sixth with a jump of 12.28 meters picking up three points for the women's team.

Senior Bryce McAndrew came in fourth place in the men's mile with a time of 4:10.18 and classmate Troy Taylor was seventh with a season-best time of 4:13.45. On the women's side, senior Susie Kemper touched in sixth place with a season-best time of 4:58.27. Sophomore Christina Moralez was ninth just missing out on points with a season-best time of 5:00.76.

Senior Connor Bey earned a point in the men's 400 meter dash final finishing in eighth place at 49.62. In the women's 60 meter dash, senior Nadiyah El-Amin finished just outside a podium finish in fourth place with a new season-best time of 7.53.

Sophomore Susannah Lynch earned a fifth-place finish in the women's 800 meter run with a season-best time of 2:13.46. Junior Collin Heard battled through a stomach virus to a fifth-place finish in the men's 200 meter dash final at 21.40.

The Mean Green were well represented in the men's 3000 meter run as sophomore Mike Lowe came in fifth (8:22.06) and McAndrew (8:22.64) touched in sixth earning seven points for the men's team. In the women's 3000m, senior Shauna Pali was 12th with a season-best time of 10:05.17. Freshman Catalina Uriarte won her section finishing in 15th place with a season-best time of 10:11.89.

In the final events of the competition, the men's 4x400 meter relay team came in eighth place as the team of Bey, freshman Chukwuma Ekweani, senior Caleb Pryor and junior Jamison Justice clocked in at 3:18.10.

In the women's 4x400 meter relay, the Mean Green finished 12th with a time of 3:57.75.
