AMES, Iowa - The Mean Green’s Jo Adams shattered the women’s mile school record to wrap up the Iowa State Classic.

“Jo looked great today,” said assistant coach Stefanie Slekis. “She competed well in a field loaded with professionals and came away with a personal-best and school record. Running 4:38.83 is another big milestone for her running career and we’re excited to build upon the success heading into indoor conference and outdoor season.”

Adams 4:38.83 mile run was an 11 second drop from the school record she set last year. Her time placed her seventh and was the second fastest collegiate run in this event.

Junior Chastity Stewart finished second in today’s final for the women’s 60m hurdles and her time of 8.52 was a season best.

On the men’s side, Troy Taylor ran a personal-best of 4:07.84, winning his section of the mile.

Up next the North Texas track and field team will head to Birmingham, Ala. for the Conference USA Championships Feb.28- Mar. 1.
