LUBBOCK, Texas -The North Texas track and field team went separate ways this weekend competing in the Texas Tech Open this Friday and the two-day Iowa State Classic Feb. 14-15.

The Mean Green wrapped up Friday evening at the Texas Tech Open with Charlotte Wilson’s victory in the 3000-meter run. Wilson collected a third event win this season, leaving her undefeated in every race she’s entered thus far.  Teammate Shauna Pali was close behind finishing fifth for the Mean Green.

In the women’s long jump, sophomores Mona Landry and Icis Finley finished in fourth and seventh place, with Finley’s jump of 5.50m a season-best.

Landry placed third in the 55m dash finals with her time of 7.14. On the men’s side Kedron Sowells and Stephen Munroe finished sixth and eighth both with faster preliminary runs.

The Mean Green’s Sarah Korn and Madison Northcutt tied for fourth in the women’s pole vault with a distance of 3.35m.

Distance runner’s Magdalena Escobar, Kylee Kittrell and Yvetter Hernandez finished the mile within one second of each other, placing fifth(5:19.29), seventh (5:20.68) and eighth (5:20.73). On the men’s side Alex Hita finished in the top-eight for the Mean Green.

Austin Yaeger and Clinton Clarke had the highest finish on the men’s side placing second. Yaeger's time of 1:52.61in the 800m run was a school record and finishing third was teammate Bryce McAndrew. Clarke triple jump distance of 13.82m was out of reach of first place.

In Ames, Iowa, North Texas finished the first day of completion with Chastity Stewart finishing in the top-two of the 60m hurdles with her preliminary time of 8.54.

Ashley Henry ran a season-best 200m in 24.66, while Collin Heard’s 21.77 placed him in the top-eight.

James Coleman set a school record in the 5000m with a time of 14:32.23, he finished 31st.
