Cole Finishes First In 200-Meter Dash At JD Martin Invitational

NORMAN, OK – The North Texas track & field team posted six top-three finishes and sophomore James Cole won the 200-meter dash event at the JD Martin Invitational Saturday inside the Mosier indoor track facility.

“The underclassmen really stepped up this weekend,” head coach Carl Sheffield said. “Freshman CJ Gilmore jumped a lifetime best to finish second in the high jump. James Cole is sprinting into top shape. Bailey Ashmore and Blake Skoog continue to move up the conference list. We had several personal bests preparing for a run at the Conference USA Championships.”

Cole took home first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.11. Senior Adam Hasan finished eighth at 22.81.

Freshman Florian Lussy finished second in the mile with a time of 4:16.38. Junior Mike Lowe came in fifth at 4:19.50.

Freshman Artesha Richardson ran a personal-best time of 58.76 in the 400-meter dash placing third.

Senior Jazmine Martin came in third place in the long jump at 5.26 meters. Freshman Howard Grant took third in the long jump at 6.94 meters.

Junior Kevone Kennedy finished second in the weight throw at 16.40 meters and freshman Karl Sralla was fourth with a season-best throw of 15.38 meters.

Freshman Clyde Gilmore, making his Mean Green debut, came in second in the high jump with a personal best jump of 2.11 meters (6 feet-11.0).

The men's team finished fifth and the women’s team came in sixth overall.
