NORMAN, Okla. - The North Texas track and field team claimed seven top finishes at the JD Martin Invitational, this Saturday in Norman, Okla.
“We placed well against today’s competition,” said head coach Carl Sheffield. “We were prepared going into this weekend with a high level of confidence that we didn’t have at our first meet this season.”
The Mean Green transfer, Anthony Hamilton won the 400-meter dash (49.43), while senior Clint Clarke triple jump of 15.05m was enough to inch out the freshman from Grambling. The men had 11 top-three finishes to compete today’s meet.
Chastity Stewart claimed her first win of the season in the 60m hurdles (8.66) while fellow junior Charlotte Wilson won the 1 mile in 5:05.27.
Sophomore Ashley Henry also picked up her first win in the 200m (25.26) and right behind her was classmate Rhenique Williams with a time of 25.49. Classmate Madison Northcutt took first in the pole vault (3.59m).
The Mean Green will compete next weekend in the Leonard Hamilton Memorial Invitational. Competition in the two-day invitational will begin Friday Jan.31.
