Josh Woods joined the University of North Texas strength and conditioning staff in August of 2016 as an assistant strength coach. Woods will serve primarily as the head assistant for football.
Before joining the Mean Green, Woods served as a graduate assistant at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he worked primarily with football, baseball and softball.
Prior to his stint at Southern Mississippi, he worked in the NFL as a paid intern for the Miami Dolphins from 2014 -15. He also worked with a private company known as EXOS (previously called Athletes Performance.
He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. He earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. He was a walk-on with the football team and played safety on the 2012-13, 11-win season team.
He also holds his master’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Southern Mississippi. Woods is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
