DENTON, Texas - No.
67 North Texas tennis heads to Troy, Ala., for two Sun Belt Conference matches
to wrap up the 2012 regular season at the Lunsford Tennis Complex this weekend.
With two wins this weekend, Mean Green head coach Sujay Lama
will become the all-time winningest coach in North Texas history with 74 dual
match victories.
Lama, who is in his sixth season with the Mean Green, has
recorded a 72-59 record since his arrival, including a staggering 70-40 record
in the last five years.
The Mean Green (13-6) will square off with red-hot Middle
Tennessee (13-5) on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Raiders have won 10 of their
last 12 matches, but are coming off of a 5-2 loss to ULM earlier this week.
Much like North Texas, Middle Tennessee has made a living on
doubles recently, taking the first point in six of its last eight attempts. NT
has gone five for its last five in scoring the doubles point and the No. 1 duo of
Nadia Lee and Barbora Vykydalova have amassed a 7-1 overall record.
Sunday's regular season finale will feature a Troy (10-7)
team that has won six of its last seven.
The Trojans feature a nationally ranked top doubles team of
Lubova Dorofeeva and Karoline Grymel.
First serve on Saturday against the Blue Raiders in set for
12 p.m., with Sundays match with the Trojans beginning at 11 a.m.
