Full Time Enrollment Requirement: You must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours each semester in order to participate in either practice or competition.

12/24 Hour Requirement: You must pass a minimum of 24 hours of acceptable credit toward a degree during the previous academic year or two semesters immediately preceding competition OR pass an average of 12 hours per term of enrollment. The 12/24 hour requirement is applicable to the following student-athletes:

  • Mid-year transfer enrollees.
  • Student-athletes who have utilized on season of competition at any school.
  • Student-athletes who are beginning their second year of enrollment.

75/25 Requirement: You must earn at least 75 percent of the minimum number of hours required for satisfactory progress (i.e. 24 hours) during the regular academic year. A maximum of 25 percent may be earned during summer terms. It is permissible for you to bank credit hours during the regular academic year and utilize such hours in meeting the 75 percent requirement in subsequent years.

Example: To be eligible entering your sophomore year, you must have passed 24 hours during your freshman year. Of these 24 hours, 18 (75 percent) must have been earned during the Fall and Spring semesters of your freshman year. A maximum of six hours of the 24 (25 percent) could be earned during the summer terms following your freshman year.

Declaration of Degree Requirement: You must officially declare a degree program by the start of your fifth semester (third year) of enrollment. Once you have declared a degree program, all course work taken thereafter should be applicable to that degree program.

25/50/75 Requirement: You are required to successfully complete a minimum proportion of the total hours required for you degree by the start of designated semesters in order to be eligible for competition. These requirements are as follows:

  • Student-athlete entering his or her fifth semester (third year) of enrollment - must have satisfactorily completed at least 25 percent of the total number of hours required for your degree.
  • Student-athlete entering his or her seventh semester (fourth year) of enrollment - must have satisfactorily completed at least 50 percent of the total number of hours required for your degree.
  • Student-athlete entering his or her ninth semester (fifth year) of enrollment - must have satisfactorily completed at least 75 percent of the total number of hours required for your degree.
90/95 Requirements: You must successfully meet a minimum proportion of the required grade-point average for graduation bye the start of designated semesters in order to be eligible for competition. These requirements are as follows:

  • Student-athlete entering his or her fifth semester (third year) of enrollment - must present a minimum cumulative grade-point average equal to 90 percent of the grade-point average required for graduation.
  • Student-athlete entering his or her seventh semester (fifth year) of enrollment - must present a minimum cumulative grade-point average equal to 90 percent of the grade-point average required for graduation.
