WACO, Texas (10/20/09) - The North Texas doubles duo of Irina Paraschiv and Madura Ranganathan fell Tuesday morning in the semi-finals of the Wilson/ITA Texas Regionals by a score of 8-2.

Paraschiv and Ranganathan, who defeated the No. 8 nationally-ranked team on Sunday, couldn't muster up the strength to take down SMU's 13th-ranked team of Pavi Francis and Lesniak Marta.

"They just didn't have it today," said head coach Sujay Lama. "Every time they would get a little momentum their serves would let them down, and that was not something that was happening earlier this week.  I'm still very proud of them for what they were able to accomplish, and we are going to take a lot of positives out of this tournament."

The Mean Green tandem's run to the semi-finals was the farthest any North Texas pair has made it under Lama.  The same pair made it to the quarterfinals in last year's regional.

"After building upon their success from last season to reach the semis this year, hopefully they will be able to take it all next year," Lama added. "This experience will be a huge factor for not only these guys but for the rest of our team going forward for the rest of the season."

The Mean Green return to Waco, for it's next tournament on Friday Oct. 30 for the Baylor Invitational.
