Midland, Texas (9/20/09) – North Texas tennis saw their first action of the season over the weekend at the Midland Challenge.

Catalina Cruz, Amy Joubert, Madura Ranganathan, Irina Paraschiv and Ashley Akin all tallied wins, as every member of the squad saw action.

“We started a little bit match rusty to begin the fall season, not having the chance to compete too much in the summer,” assistant head coach Jeff Maren stated. “We played a little bit off of our game, and the results showed.  It was good for us to start off with some stiff competition.”

The tournament, which was conducted at The Racquet Club, featured some of the top competition from the area.

 “We certainly have some things that we can work on, and are looking forward to our next tournament in Lafayette,” said Maren.

The Mean Green will take a week off before traveling to Lafayette, La., for the Louisiana-Lafayette Invitational Oct. 2 thru Oct. 4.
