Mean Green Tennis Plays Host For North Texas Classic

DENTON, Texas (11/5/09) – The Mean Green tennis team will
finally return to the Waranch Tennis Complex to host the North Texas Classic
Friday and Saturday.The tournament will
mark the first time this season that the Mean Green has had a chance to compete
at home.
“We are definitely looking forward
to playing at home for the first time this year,” head coach Sujay Lama said. “Our
goal is to finish the fall season playing our best tennis and feeling good
going into spring. We have worked extremely hard and made a lot of progress and
it sure would be great to put it all together both in singles and doubles this
week end.”
North Texas will continue with the
doubles pairings that they debuted last week as Irina Paraschiv will team up
with Amy Joubert, Madura Ranganathan will be paired with Narine Kazarova,
Shannon MacKenzie will join Paula Dinuta and finally, Ashley Akin and Catalina
Cruz will join forces.
The North Texas Classic will
feature players from area colleges such as Texas-Arlington, Northwestern State
(La.), North Central Texas College and Wichita State.
Play will begin Friday morning
with doubles matches at 9:30, followed immediately by singles matches. Session
two will begin at 2:30 with the same schedule.Pizza will be served towards the end of the second session and is
available to any fans attending the matches.
The tournament will begin its last
session Saturday morning, which will also be at 9:30 am.
