LAS CRUCES, New Mexico - The North Texas women's golf
team rallied on the final day of the Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate by
shooting a round of 293 to finish 10th in the 18-team tournament.
The round on Wednesday is the best by a North Texas team since they shot a 292
in 2002 at Oakmont Country Club.
Overall the Mean Green shot a 43-over par 907 and was
only eight strokes shy of reaching the top five.
Leading the way for the Mean Green was sophomore Addison
Long, who shot a collegiate best round of 70 and finished the tournament as the
team's top individual finisher (T-14th) with a 7-over par, 223.
Sophomore Kelsey Kipp and senior Jordan Rose both shots
75 to finish their respective tournament. In fact, both Rose and Kipp finished
tied for 32nd with a 10-over par 226.
Senior Janna Golden bounced back from a tough first two
rounds to shoot a 73 on Wednesday. She carded a three-round score of 16-over
par, 232, tying her for 55th overall.
Senior Maggie Noel rounded out the scores for the Mean
Green by finishing tied for 88th with a three-day score of 244.
Idaho was crowned the tournament champs with a team score
of 7-over par, 871, followed by UC-Irvine (+14), San Diego State (+16), Baylor
(+30) and Fresno State (+30).
North Texas will be back in action on Oct. 19-20 at the Shocker
Invitational in Newton, Kansas.
